Wanted to show off the patchwork quilts that I have made for a couple of new friends and their new babies!
The first is a pattern called Archipelago and I was so impressed when it was finally all pieced together just how much it looked like the original (colour differences not withstanding). This was my first machine pieced quilt and after many years of only using my sewing machine to mend clothes, I finally MADE something from scratch.
Particularly liked the back with the insert that mirrored the top pattern.
And I really thought I was something special when I bound my label before sewing it into the quilt's binding :) I will admit I only did that because I read after I had already done the quilting, that the label should be quilted at the same time to make it harder for thieves to steal a quilt.
My second baby quilt (they are sooo quick to make, unlike the hand pieced hexie quilt I'm doing) happened even quicker than the first and is a traditional Checkerboard pattern.
And again with bound label lol, because although I knew that it should be quilted, I've decided I quite like binding the label!
Now it's off to the sewing room to complete quilt 3 for the month of October!
NB. Both quilt patterns were downloaded from favequilts.com
Thank you to Shana Kreikemeier from Needyl for Archipelago and
